About The Recovery Café
The Recovery Café is open to everyone in the community. We provide: tea/coffee and hot meals in a friendly, safe social space. We particularly welcome people in recovery from and affected by addiction.
We are a music cafe. Many of our activities are based around music for health, healing and recovery. Several singing circles use the cafe on a weekly basis. This includes a singing circle of recovering addicts called ‘Voice of Recovery.’
The singing circle meets for practice and rehearsals at the The Old Schoolhouse/Recovery Cafe in Loughbrickland, County Down once a week. The Voice of Recovery have become a popular group of singers performing at major health conferences, theatres and concert venues throughout Northern Ireland and further afield. We released a CD called 'from the ashes'; made up of original songs.
We also produced a book of our personal stories and images. Both are available from the Café.
Although we strive for musical excellence; our practice sessions are light-hearted and great fun – you don’t have to a Pavarotti or an Elvis to join!
At the Recovery Cafe we offer a range of purposeful activities for those seeking to rebuild their social lives in a safe environment. We provide the opportunity for people to meet and develop new friendships.
